So you’re in the market for a new floor. Have you considered luxury vinyl flooring? It is both stylish and durable, not to mention highly functional. It looks so good that we think it can go in every room in your home. Let's take a closer look.
Two types: plank and tile
There are two types of luxury vinyl that you will be looking at plank and tile. The plank comes in a wood-look. It is long and flexible and molds itself well to the subfloor. The planks come in different lengths and widths, all depending on your choice. Luxury vinyl plank is also known as LVP.
Luxury vinyl tile, LVT, on the other hand, comes in a firmer tile format. It is harder than LVP, comes in a variety of tile shapes that are harder and less flexible. When you put it side-by-side with ceramic tile, you may have a hard time determining which is which! It looks and feels just like ceramic.
Both LVP and LVT are waterproof. At their core, they are made of plastic composed wood or plastic comprised tile material. They both come from PVC, a standard construction material known for its complete water resistance. So the core won't peel, curl, or warp when exposed to extended periods of water.
What makes it so attractive?
That would be the design layer of the LVP and LVT. It is a layer that has a three-dimensional picture in it that has width and depth to it. If something were to gouge the flooring, there would be little sign of it because the image has depth. The pictures in the design layer are stunning and represent what you are looking for, be it tile, wood, stone, or brick. It can be matched to any décor.
