Is luxury vinyl flooring durable?

Luxury vinyl (LVF) is so durable it's considered to be the best flooring for homes with kids and pets. Completely waterproof, this is a multi-layered product that's five times thicker than the original vinyl. It comes with a top transparent, strong melamine layer to protect the floor from scratches, scuffs, and spills and, on top of that, is a urethane finish that adds both shine and extra durability. We always remind our customers that true LVF should be at least 8-mm thick with a separate wear layer measuring 20-mils.

Nature-inspired, true-to-life images

LVF has an amazingly realistic design layer with digital photography, wood, stone, and tile representations. This layer displays knots, grains, swirls, and veining variations. Micro beveling and embossing add depth and dimension and come with textures such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered and distressed; an assortment of matte, gloss, and high gloss finishes is available.

To add to the realism, it can be cut into longboards called luxury vinyl plank or LVP. Square, tile-sized pieces are called luxury vinyl tile or LVT. Please don't feel you are limited to how you can use the forms; for example, LVP is mainly associated with hardwood, but some also use it for stone mimics because of the more prominent format/fewer seams. Others might use LVT for stone or even wood looks.

Easy Care!

Who has time these days to scrub floors? With this product, you sweep regularly (daily, if possible) and mop with a manufacturer-approved cleaner. Avoid waxy, shine-promoting cleaners as they can damage the finish and dull the floor.

Installation can be a snap, literally. When installed as a floating floor, pieces click together, mat, then hover over a clean, dry, and level subfloor. LVF can be placed over most subfloor, including concrete.
